Anabel Arto has long been associated not only with elegant lingerie, but also with a thoughtful attitude to femininity, the body and a woman’s inner world. We spoke with the brand’s designer and creative director about where each collection begins, why philosophy matters more than trends, and how fashion can influence the way we feel.
— Anabel Arto is often described as a brand with character. What does that mean to you?
— For me, the character of Anabel Arto is honesty. We don’t try to outshout the market or shock for the sake of attention. Our brand is about a woman’s inner dialogue with herself. Lingerie is an incredibly personal thing, and if there’s no sincerity in it, you can feel that. We create designs that don’t fight the body, but support it.
— Where does the work on a new collection usually begin?
— Almost never with fabric or sketches. It always starts with a feeling. That feeling might be calm, confidence, vulnerability or strength. We think about the rhythm of a woman’s life today and what she may be missing. Only then do we choose shapes, materials and colour palettes. A collection is always a response to an inner need, not simply a nod to fashion.
— How do you find the balance between aesthetics and comfort?
— We don’t separate the two. For us, comfort is part of aesthetics. Beauty cannot be forced. If a garment presses, restricts movement or requires endurance, it stops being beautiful. That’s why we work so carefully on construction and fit, testing styles on different body types. A woman should forget she’s wearing lingerie during the day and simply feel confident.
— The philosophy of “self-love” is often mentioned in connection with the brand. What does it mean to you?
— Self-love isn’t about perfection or constant pleasure. It’s about respect. Respect for your body, your state of mind and your boundaries. We don’t tell women, “Become better.” We say, “You are already enough, and you deserve care.” Even such a simple choice as comfortable, beautiful lingerie is an act of kindness towards yourself.
— How do you relate to trends in the lingerie industry?
— We observe them, but we don’t follow them blindly. Trends come and go, but the body remains. If a visual detail or colour truly resonates with our philosophy, we adapt it. But we never sacrifice the brand’s DNA for the relevance of a single season.
— Who do you create Anabel Arto for?
— For real women. Not for an abstract image or a perfect picture. Our customers differ in age, body type and lifestyle, but they share one thing - a desire to feel in harmony with themselves. We aim to be present in everyday life, not only on special occasions.
— How do you see the future of the brand?
— In developing depth. It’s important for us not just to expand the range, but to preserve meaning. I believe the fashion of the future isn’t about speed, but about mindfulness. And Anabel Arto will continue to speak to women quietly, respectfully and sincerely.
This interview once again confirms that Anabel Arto is not just a lingerie brand, but a philosophy in which design becomes a form of care, and beauty a continuation of a woman’s inner state.
